I would like to congratulate my Pops, Justus Daniel on his runner-up finish in the 6.00 index class at the spring Holcomb Motorsports Civil Wars at Rockingham Dragway in Rockingham North Carolina on Sat. April the 9th. Way to go Pop, and way to start the season! Congrats Justus -- you must have found the right boat anchor ;D

I have been tinkering with my back up car a couple of weeks. Nothing fancy at all. Stock bottom end 350, small hydraulic cam, vortec heads, and a glide with a 8'' ptc converter.topped off with a 650dp.last night started out with a 7.97 and finished up with a 7.94. the humidity was changing rapidly last night.Last week was better consistency wise. Quickest run was 7.91 with a 7.92 being the slowest.I deep stage and average around a 1.78 60ft. average mph is 85 mph.

thats really good #'s for the power plant, thats like I tell all my guys it don't matter how fast your stuff is as long as it repeats, good job! I'm putting my stock motor back in it now, its a standard bore 455 Buick with a .500 lift solid cam, stock heads, a single plane intake and a 4500 Holley on e-85 and it ran 7.0's on gas so I'm ready to see what it runs on the corn! happy racing

E85 scores another W. Lassiter Mountain Dragway last night. Got lucky. forgot fuel jugs at house, and decided to run off 2 barrel to save some fuel, and turned out it was deadly off the 2 barrel as well.

Not good last night. .497 red 3rd rd. Also developed a miss, and discovered # 4 and 6 spark plugs fouled with oil. I think the intake gasket is letting oil in the cylinders. Did a compression test and shows good there. Leakdown test tomorrow will give me a better idea.I think the intake gaskets are a common problem with the vortec heads.

Got the W tonite at lassiter mtn. I added some rear jet extensions and the car seem to really respond to them. ran 10 runs, and the 60 ft was 1.79 every run.also picked up .05 in the et and right at two mph.the air was actually worse then last outing. Finally feel like I can leave the car along and race. fastest et was 7.897,slowest was 7.911 DEEP staged of course. This engine is going on 11 seasons.E85 is probably the best thing I have done for my racing program.
