Thanks bb I haven't ran it through the new stroker yet. Would it help to jump my stat up from a 160? The old combo with one elec fan ran 170 no matter what I was doing. With e85 should I try to keep her in the 180 190 range? I think I'm going to put a dual band on to help with tuning.

I'm sure I'm running fat right now too, Justus said he sends them out a little rich to stay on the safe side which I like that idea. I'll keep an eye on my oil too 427 I just changed it and have only 3 1/4 mile passes on it. How many passes or how much time went by before you started noticing the change in your oil, I'm assuming you are talking about it looking milky like I've read some people have issues with? I run a 355 with breathers in each valve cover and haven't had any issue so far. Also I don't run a thermostat on the 3 passes I've made since switching to the E85 I can bring it up to 170 and control the temp by turning my fan on and off. If I leave at 170 it only goes up a hair after a 1/4 mile with the fan on, so I'll start watching the temp as an indicator of if I need to lean it down. How much temp change do you guys think I should get on a 1/4 mile pass with the jetting set correctly?

Gramps I had maybe at the absolute most 80 miles. The 355 combo didnt make a track pass last year. I was only running a stock s10 radiator and a single fan and my temps were always under 180.... I beat on it really hard one time down the highway and she still didnt get over 180. Everything I have read e85 needs a bit more temp. Bb seems to know his stuff I ran across him on a couple other forums. I have a 2 core alum radiator this year and 2 fans. So I will keep you posted on my temps. Complete new setup Afr heads, dart block, eagle 4" stroke crank and eagle hbeams.

That sounds real close to the build I plan of doing this off season to put the truck in the 10.1x range. My plan is 421 c.i. Dart block forged rotating assembly, the AFR heads I have now. As for now here is what I have for a radiator it's a custom made aluminum from DeWits, I'm lucky enough to live 15 minutes from them and they will build you anything you want to your dimensions for a very reasonable price. With my set up I can get it to whatever temp I want it at and then hold it there with the fan, now the weather has been very cool so far, we'll see what happens when it warms up this summer. I had the same problem with the oil after I got my Dominator back the floats were just a tad high. But I spoke with Justus and he told me a great way to set my floats with the bowls off is to watch the seam on the float compared to the bottom of the screw hole for checking the floats you have to hold the bowl upside down and adjust it to ehere its right at the bottom of the screw hole. It worked perfect I also live in Michigan and have been running e85 in my last 3cars you cannot beat the way it performs keeps my BBO running alot cooler and I keep jetting it up still showing a tad lean on my plugs but making good passes have it rejetted and all set up for the next time I can go test. Heres a good tip also I test my fuel before I buy it. I will buy 50cents worth of e85 test it if its not 83% or better than I dont buy it. But I have been getting it at a Meijers store in Davison Mi they get there fuels from Sunoco snd I have had great luck with Sunoco e85. Good luck hope this helped by the way when I showed e85 in the oil it was only the floats were off I was still lean on my jetting eent up to 99's/104's still hoping its close now. Good luck gramps

Thanks bigdaddy, good info I appreciate it. And yes I have been testing a small 1gallon sample before buying, it's funny you say that about Meijer and Sunoco, because here (Hartland) The Sunoco station nearest me is the station with the lowest percentage right now (78%). The BP station in Fenton has been real good about showing me the delivery paperwork they get when they get the fuel and it matches right up when I test it. The 10 gallons I bought yesterday tested at about 81%. And thanks you guys for the info here, it's a small forum but it seems to have people who know wtf they're talking about that's really refreshing!!!! big daddy where are you getting fuel that is at or near 85% right now up by you, I'm just assuming they are still not shipping the full summer percentage right now but I may be completely wrong about that, I'm way new to all this still.

Gramps what kind of headers are you running on the s10? I have the Sanderson Shorty's for angle plug but I think they are going to be to small for the new stroker.

It's a drag racing truck and I run heddman hustler fender well headers. 1 3/4" to 1 7/8" stepped primaries into 3 1/2" collectors. They fit great but would be pretty difficult to make work for street use.

These are what they are, this particular pair has 2" primaries. mine are ceramic coated, and I got a great deal on them from a local speed shop who had ordered them and had them sitting around their shop for over 2 years I paid way less for the pair linked here and that included the ceramic coating option. www.jegs.com/i/Hedman-Husler/502/65857/10002/-1

"hey you guy's" (thats my favorite saying from the goonies) any way the temp has to stay above 170 all the time for the fuel to burn correctly so no 160 t-stats, at least 180 or higher or none at all but keep it hot, on mine I would go to the water at 160-170 with no fans on and when it left it was 170-175 and at the stripe 185-190 and idling back to pits with the fan on 170-175 and no cooling between rounds for me but as you can see I try to keep it warn when I'm racing and have had no issues so good luck guy's and happy racing

Thanks for that info BB, my motor always ran it's best on race gas at about 190 so it likes to be warm. Those numbers are easily doable for me, thanks again. I'll report back after Sundays race.

One thing to remember Gramps if you feel like trying it once I get mine tuned on the Dominator I usually will buy a drum of Renegade Race fuels version of E85 I just ordered a drum of E85 from them and its leaded runs really well but you want to be close on your tune before you try it. Its about $230 a drum the have it in Ortonville at the feed store but man its great steady fuel. Good luck where do you Race at by the way.

I talked to the rep from Renegade at the hot rod show in Novi last month about that. I know right where the store you are talking about is. I race in the McCormack racing NHRA points brackets at Milan on Sundays, it's a blast, I've really been having a good time with it. last season I made their "team" and went to the NHRA division 3 finals in Indy and actually finished in the money (looking to go back there and win that this year) I sometimes go out to Lapeer and test out there, you don't happen to live in Lapeer do you? ?

Yes I do that looks like my old truck is this Dan. I know he races in the points at Milan and went to indy last year too gotta be Dan whats up this is John I finally got the Olds done but I have been testing at Ubly. I went to Lapeer 3 weeks ago and paid 25 bux for a TnT and Ed charged me 30 bux for my 12 year old boys to get in with me. I got a bit upset then the track was pumping water up so I left. He raised the price for admission to 15 bux so I have been testing at Ubly its a better track to hook on so I also joined a points challenge but we will see if I can hit all the races.

Hi John I figured that was you when I saw your avatar pic, I'm doing good, that's really sad to here about him wanting to charge for kids like that, I know at Milan kids 12 and under are always free. How do you like Ubly? I saw they have a good race coming up memorial day weekend.
