When I tested it the fuel was about 82/83% but I am also running Ngk heat range 6 plugs which are the hottest heat range they have for my car but I am going to go to a heat range 7 plug Ngk does their ranges backward from everyone else the lower the number the hotter the plug. I think thats why it kind of looked lean in the plug but when I took some jetting away it picked up. Also I went to a MSD 7al 2 plus and a HVC MSD coil this year which is probably throwing alot hotter spark that the old 6al and blaster coil was. I am gonna try running a cooler plug cause these are just as dry as can be and very tan. Hope thats my problem I will keep you posted

For what it's worth John, I like the NGK plugs too. I'm using R5671A-7 (4091) plugs. They seem to do the trick in my motor.

Yep I really like the Ngk plugs but when I started using them it was last fall and early morning temps were in the low 40's so I started with the highest heat range plugs which were heat range 6 plugs. But now that its warmed up outside I need a colder plug so I ordered a set of heat range 7 snd 8's today to get it right. You cannot beat how well these cars fire up with a good set of Ngk plugs and their heat ranges go backwards to other plugs hot is a 6 colder plugs are 7-8-9's so as it warms up I may have to switch again. Thanks Dan

Well Boys I have a new problem maybe you guys can help me with. My car was running great while I was trying to get it jetted for speed. Well I went out last Friday night and ran 3 passes on what I thought was going to be a good set up. Well I ran 3 passes 6.80/6.80/6.81 it was running a bit rich it seemed because it was taking forever to heat up but on the 4th pass it blew the 2nd gear sprag and I got it home pulled it out Saturday put it back in on Sunday new Sprag Drum and fluid the rest was perfect. Well we went back out on Monday to test and it was still low 6.80's 60' fell off and I was scratchin my head. Well my Buddy came over he brought his new Timing lite. I was at 6 degrees at a idle then 17 Degrees at 2750 rpm its a centrifugal advance MSD distributor.well we set it at 22 degrees at idle and 34 degrees at 2750 and its holding that if you rev it. IDK what happened if someone turned my timing back when I was not looking or what but now I have to start the tune all over. Also my 1/4 mile times fell from a 10.40 to a pair of 10.66's 1@127.6 and 1@126.9 now I need to start all over with my tune but I know its running alot better now I was popping thru the pipes when I would let off it was running rich but faster as soon as I jetted down it would slow down its at 98 squared right now snd it warms up quick but I am thinking going 102'smake a few passes see if it improves then go from there.

Hey big d. I would go back to the 102's. If I remember correctly, that's what you had in it when you were running high 6.50's. Then, if it goes back where it was, jet up first. If it likes it, keep going until it doesn't. I remember it liked the 102's better than the 104's, but richer first to be safe. Let us know how it turns out.

yes go back to the 102's to be safe, in some cases you may need to install a lean out valve to make heat, also do you have iron or aluminum heads??? iron heads like a lot of timing as much as 42* but aluminum heads don't like as much more like 30-34* keep us posted

Ok I put it back to 102's squared its warming up pretty normal right now but really does not have that rich smell real heavy thinking 103's but the Timing being put up to 34/35 is a real improvement to the idle. My Buddy is trying to talk me into locking it in at 35 but I dont want it turning over hard and hurting parts like my starter. I plan on going out Saturday or Sunday and running the Gamet again I really think this car has more in it than 6.50's too

I have mine locked out at 34* and when I start it I spin the engine over then flip the ignition switch while its spinning over, cranks every time
It will run 6.50 flat or quicker, you remember to jet up until MPH slowes then back 1 or 2 jet sizes

But I can start the car now and its fine to Idle at 1100 rpms about 15 seconds after it starts. Has not done that ever. Also no rich fuel smell at all. I will keep you posted my friend. Wow I knew I was messing up its 6/19 thru 6/21 at Summit motorsports park in Norwalk Ohio hope to have this Nasty Ols ripin it up. Just got a new water neck its going into my top radiator hose as my motor sets just a bit higher than mt top of the Radiator so I dont get a air bubble in my radiator. Gonna really get on this tune Saturday going to Ubly gettin it done probably gonna be going to the 104's again if not more. I just found out yesterday one of my yellow tops are done I put it on the load tester snd its weak pulling my other one down. But I am gonna put a new set of regular batteries in it. Maybe help out that 7al -2 plus box I got in it if its getting good volts too. But I am going to that big No Box Race at Norwalk Ohoi mabe evrn make a buck. Race Safe my Brothers I will post some tune results this week.
