yes, it should go down with bigger jets. But, if you back timing down, it may go up a little. dont be too worried about that. if you can, take a pic of plug each time you make a change so you can refer back to it. if you still see alot of heat, you may need to use another new plug so that you dont misread color that was already there. probably should get a few new ones.
