Hey Brad. Retarding the timing is the cause of your higher EGT.

What got me messing with the timing is it started cranking hard so i thought id check it well it must of moved or something cause is was like 40-42 so i turn it to 36 and its been like that for a bit now

well, as odd as it may seem, the 2 changes you made actually cooled down the combustion chamber temp, so you safer than you were.

Read Adam's post on reading spark plugs. its very informative. it will help you get the timing correct. Can you post up a good pic of a couple of your plugs?

Ill try ive got 10 pass on these ngk 7 plugs and show nothing with the ngk 8 i saw pepper when the timing moved so when i moved it i check them before switching to the new tune there was none these ngk 7 has no pepper on them the timing is dead on u can see it right as the ground strap bends u can see the firing on it

the ground strap ( or electrode) is where you read for timing. You want to see heat from the end to just around the bend. Where the heat stops, there will be some blue or rainbow looking colors.

sorry, didnt see your post about plugs before I posted. now you need to look at the ring where the ground strap attaches. should have heat 3/4 of the way around.
