can anyone tell me the specific gravity for e85 ? what i have bought is the specific gravity is .772 at 60 deg.

Hi Avon, not sure what your asking. PH is how acidic (low ph) or basic (high ph) a substance is, and what you noted is more like the density is. If you mean density there are variables that will result in different numbers. Ethanol is listed as having a specific gravity (its weights vs water which is 1) of .794 @ 60 F. E85 is a solution, but gasoline is made up of different hydrocarbons, and the mix can change. Gasoline is listed as .72-.78 @ 60 F so using a hydrometer is not the most accurate way of figuring out ethanol %. A water test should give you better %. Hope this helps.

Thats fine, we all missspeak all the time!! LOL You did understand that because gasoline make up is a solution and not constant that it's specific gravity will change, thats why its not the best test of ethanol %.
