In Australia we only have a few e85 outlets, and its a bit of a concern that it may be stored in the large tanks at the service stations for a long amount of time before the 20,000 litres is sold and re-stocked.
Does e85 go off like normal fuel does? if so how long? should this be a concern?
Also storing e85 in drums on concrete floors is it true that it will make it go off as well?
Cheers

ya need to keep all alky products in the smallest full container (no half full drums) pump stations have vapor and moisture recovery systems so as not to evaporate into the atmosphere and let loose nasty pollutants into the ozone and you . i would just buy a cheap hydrometer to check the spec. gravity and know what ya got since the mix does change seasonal like gas the summer stuff is the most ethanol available . Heath sells em on here

We store in plastic 55 gallon sealed drums covered with a tarp under a shade tree. We have run e85 stored in this manor that was over a year old that we knew of and it performed flawlessly. We actually use a proof hydrometer to quickly check our e85. If it's 85% ethanol it floats right at 200 proof. I can't explain this because usually 200 proof is straight alcohol as I understand it but I guess the 15% gasoline throws it off. We have confirmed this measure with a water separation tester (which is what I sell) and 200 proof = 85% ethanol.
