I am new to this board, and I feel that I have got a quick education on here, great info!! I do have a couple of questions of my own, do you have to run forged pistons with E85 or will my KB Hypers work? I run a Holley blue fuel pump, will this be okay as well? My ignition timing is locked, but I do run a retard box (MSD 6AL, 2-step). If these are repeat questions, I am sorry, I have searched all the topics on this forum, and I may have over looked them. Great site with a wealth of info on here, great job!! My combo is: 383 SBC solid lifter camshaft Dart Iron Eagle 215's Eagle Rotating Assembly Proform main body w/QFT billet blocks Turbo 400 Best time is 7.48 1/8 mile

motioncam welcome to the board. Let me just start by saying that you have the quintessential combination to run on E85. Your KB Hypers will be just fine and your Holley Blue will be okay as well if you have it plumbed correctly. If it has a few years on it then I recommend replacing it with a Holley Black because they are the same size and bolt directly in place of the blue but flow 130 gph instead of a healthy blue at 110 gph. If you blue is healthy than it will work fine. I recommend plumbing it with a #8 (or equivalent) in and two #6 (or equivalent) out both sides of the regulator. A lot of guys plug one side with a fuel pressure gauge and feed the carb off one side of the regulator but this essentially cuts your flow in half and flow is what you need with E85. Feed the primary off one side of the regulator and the secondary off the other and its good to go. One thing that is often over looked in a conversion is the fuel filter. The very popular Fram "canister" filter only flow 90 gph which is not what you want. You want a filter that is capable of flowing at least as much as your pump is capable of pumping. I like this one from Jegs. www.jegs.com/i/Perma-Cool/771/81794/10002/-1It's inexpensive, flows plenty and works great. Hope this helps. Let me know if I can help you out with any parts for your conversion. Thanks for joining the board, talk to you soon.

Thank You Heath, my pump only has a couple of races on it. I am glad you mentioned the filter, the Fram is exactly what I am using, I will replace this, along with my fuel lines. When I order my conversion kit, in afew weeks, I will give you a call. Thanks again for the info. ;D ;D

I am using a Proform main body already, are there any modifications that have to be done to the base plate? Mine is the stock Holley base plate. Thanks.

Nope, your good to go with the Holley base plate although we have found it sometimes necessary to file the "hump" that is on top of the big vacuum port that comes off the back of the base plate. You want to file it down even with the flat place where the port goes into the main part of the base plate. This is necessary because the billet E85 blocks are slightly bigger than the stock Holley blocks and there is not much room in this area for expansion. This modification ensures that the metering block gasket seats up properly with the main body and float bowl.
