I enjoy the simplicity factor of Mechanical Fuel pumps but would like to get some input on those that have used or currently are using Mechanical, I found this message board and posted in another guests section. Figure I would start a new one. It was recommended by my Carb Builder for 130 GPH based on my setup (sbc 13:1 , profiler heads/.580/.590 lift - tunnel ram with 2x650 carbs etc. etc. 4-speed 63 nova ) Racepumps.com was on my list to get but just checked and there no longer making them, so just tonight started my search. Currently found 2 with Large inlet and outlet, it kills me to see a " race pump " with 1/4 in and out The two I'm sharing have large in/out www.summitracing.com/parts/crt-m7900g/overview/make/chevrolet This model is 180 GPH www.speedwaymotors.com/Pro-Cam-Racing-9351-Chevy-6-Valve-75-PSI-Mechanical-Fuel-Pump-130-GPH,59312.html The plan is to run to a regulator ( still have to narrow down what one ) and for steady fuel pressures possibly a return style regulator, I will run 10AN from tank up to pump, I will not cheap out on this fuel system !!! Thanks much

I would go with the 180. The 130 would be borderline IMO. The 180 might be a little more than you need, but better too much than not enough in this situation.

Thanks for the info, if I do use the 180 seeing that I know I would for sure have enough with a quality regulator I would think my fuel pressure would be steadier as the Volume would be consistent.
What type of regulator do you guys recommend ?
These carbs should see around 6psi give or take.
Who runs a by-pass regulator ?
Thanks gain

Doing more reading and found what seems to be a smaller shop making pumps, Robbmc performance www.robbmcperformance.com/products/chevy1100.htmlAlso they have a option for there standard dead head regulator with a vapor line ( similar to return ) going back to tank. Interesting !!!
