I have a Dominator E85 carb built by raceone85, it is on a Big block ford, and have a couple questions... on a cold start I can get it to idle and the rpm I want, once I drive the car a little bit and get it hot it seems to idle like 2k higher... is there anything I can do to get a happy medium with a consistent idle?

you need to check the fuel %age to see what you got, E-85 don't like cold starts and you must keep temps up to 170* for it to burn properly so start there, I think E-70 will be better when its under 45* @ E-70 you will need to lean it out a little on main jets like 2 to 4 jet sizes, keep us posted and good luck

well the actual problem is it will idle when the car is cold once i get the d**n thing to start and once its does idle its fine... then if I drive it or give it a few wide open throttle taps once its warmed up the idle will not come back down..

Sounds like the idle could be lean. Does it warm up easily? Ck the fuel like the Bean suggested & let us know. Mine will idle really low when cold & comes up as it warms up. Kind of the nature of the beast. This usually happens even on gas. Yours sounds a little excessive, so it probably just needs a little tweaking on the idle mixture. I find that the mixture screw adjustments don't respond as quickly as a gas carb. What I do is just make 1/4 turns on all 4 idle mix screws and let it run like that for a little bid to see what happens to the idle.
