heath you know i build carburetors. as of now i can't find e85 here in the louisville area its e75 . my car doesn't run well on it. but it did run the same every time. our track is on the ohio river the temp change from 70 to 40. it ran 5.71 at 3.00 at 70 deg in the afternoon and 5.713 at 12.30 in the morning at 40 deg.i got down to 8 cars the guy i ran cut a oooo light dialed in a 6.27 and ran 6.272 i was done. out of 5 carburetors i built this winter 4 got checks. and one of them won the money in super pro. three of the carbs i built were in the last 8 cars. e85 is great but e75 is junk. buy the way the tester works great. thanks avon

aVON..... BEEN TOYING WITH ADDING A SPOT OF METHANOL TO GET THE LEVEL UP TO A TRUE 85%
who's fuel are you running and do they switch in the summer? i got a hazmat msds sheet from speedway stations and sunoco . ...so i can mix it up and it test good. if ya cant store it ,it is a great option . the e-85 here is just 4 winter @75% and has alot of additives and the octane looks lower . it takes a 2 gals of meth. to 3 gals e-85 winter to get the mix back to 7/1 or lean tune it to 7.8-8 /1

Do you tune with EGT or Lamda? Adding alky is a good idea.

i did the math from fuel flow data and a msds sheet . then set it up on the trans brake for 4-5 sec. and locked in the readings of both .it spike to a 900+egt @.85 and went right up no stumble . that set up on the top dragster netted 1260hp dyno and @ track a little lean right of the brake and alittle rich at the stripe both combo's followed suit when injected with my tune up were deadly as air changed it only moved the et split times around due to the mix ranging from max lean h/p to max rich h/p fuel curves (adding nos to qualify ment pinch valve and dry shot )

thanks adam. i mixed some up seems to run ok. i will find out sat. if the weather permits. i should be able to get e85 here in may. what i got here last fall was e90. where do you live ? you say you can't get e85 there. before you sent me the message i had already built a alcohol carb. my car had slowed down from 5.32 to 5.71 on e75. even though it had slowed down .that was not a problem .but it didn't start very well on e75.out of about 80 door cars and 20 dragsters.mine was one of the slowest dragsters .when i got down to the last 8 cars i was the only dragster there. thanks for the help
