Avon, thanks for joining the board and thanks for writing in. I tell you, every application is different and I have guys try to go from methanol to E85 just be jetting down and it doesn't work. There is a little more to it than just that. It seems that the main wells and booster in a typical methanol carburetor are to big and the air bleeds are to small. You can convert from methanol to E85 it just takes an understanding. E85 is approximately in between gasoline and methanol. A few things have to be changed but they are well worth it. E85 is the most cost effective fuel you can run in your race car. You really do get the benefits for running methanol without all the extra maintenance. To give you an example we run the blown car you see on my web site and as you know blown cars are notorious for pushing fuel past the rings into the oil. Well we have raced almost every weekend this year and we changed our oil for the first time just last week. As far as weather you will pick up or slow down is concerned that all depends on your tune-up. Every combination is different but I would say if you get it to run the same as you are now than that is a success. Thanks for writing in Avon and let me know if there is anything I can do to help you with your conversion. E85 is really the way to go.

thanks heath for the info. i ordered new conversion kit for my alcohol carb. it should be here this week if so i will test wed. i don't think it will be as much trouble going from alcohol to e85 as going from gas. i also run a blp belt driven fuel pump on both my cars so i hope that is not a problem. i don't think it will be when i test my car if i don't have any problems it will be the first time. when is the best time to call you. thanks avon

i ran my car last night.test and tune only it was cold and i could only get one run in.to cold car wouldn't hook well.spun off the line. 45F rh=55 i set my timeing at 38 degrees i usually run 41 degrees it always slowes down at 38 my weather station prediction on alcohol was 5.39 i ran 5.45 on e-85 125mph i left the line at 150 water temp it didn't gain any temp i may be just a little fat with 96 in front and 97 in back but very pleased. especially at($ 2.43) a gal from the pump) starts good, runs good.i do not see any problems. i was the first one at the track to run e-85. if i want it to go faster i have a 750 hp engine in my 65 nova. that i am going to sell. the nova will be on racing junk after i pull the engine out. thanks for the help heath. ;D
