We've discussed the possibility of how this percentage would work with a un modified carb. I decided to give it a try to satisfy my own curiosity. I mixed pump E82 with race gas to get E45. The reason I used race gas is that my motor has 12:1 comp ratio. Thought this may be of some interest. Carburetor is an 850 with annular boosters. First 2 runs are on race gas. Run #1 60' 1.419 330' 4.164 660' 6.491 @ 105.22 Run#2 1.415 4.150 6.467 @ 105.52
Next 4 runs are on E45. Jetted up 6 numbers primary & secondary. Run #3 1.409 4.141 6.456 @ 105.67 Run#4 1.410 4.128 6.433 @ 106.04 Run #5 1.410 4.133 6.441 @ 106.04 Run #6 1.407 4.130 6.436 @ 106.11 Still may have a little more in it with some jetting. It was actually gaining more water temp on E45 than on gas & warming up quicker, so I'm thinking it may be a little lean. I will try doing some jetting next. Pump shots may need some tuning as it now has a flat spot when I deck it getting on 2 step. I will keep you posted.

Hey triple. Cool experiment there. If you cannot clean up the flat spot with pump shot I would adjust the iab or IFR. Go .002 down on iab or up .001 on IFR.
This will get ya a little richer transition. I am thinking 6-8 jet sizes should get you close with the e45.

Hey AJ, Yeah, I thought so too. I was pleasantly surprised. I literally did nothing but change jets. I may be able to fatten up the idle with the mixture screws. I'm going to have to drill and tap bleeds for screw in bleeds. When I'm done with this, I think I'm going to convert it for E85 and try the annular boosters. The boost pins are .170, so they may be big enough. I know we've discussed the use of the annular boosters before as well, & while most everyone seems to think they're not the best choice, I figure it can't hurt to give it a try. The annular boosters pull harder which may cause it too be to rich up top. If I can't get it sorted out with help from my potnas on here, than I can just have the down leg boosters put in it. ;D

Well Bean, I was curious about this!!! I wanted to find out if it would work. I mixed 2.5 gallons of E82 with 2gallons of Sunoco purple. After doing the math, the cost per gallon comes to about $5.25. That's a decent amount cheaper than the $8.00 per gallon of Sunoco. If your at 11:1 comp or less, I believe you could make the same E45 using 93 octane pump gas and be ok. Then you can get some of the benefits of using ethanol (like more consistency). I also wanted to put this info out there for anyone who is on the fence about using E85, whether it's because they're unsure about using it or simply because they may not be able to afford to convert. Hopefully, someone will benefit from this info. ;D
